It will represent a major change. Two main changes were made to the Daytona, such that they changed the soul of Rolex's already prestigious flagship model.

The adoption of a self-winding mechanical movement: hence the addition of the term Perpetual to the official name of the chronograph.

The new Daytona is produced in both steel and 18kt yellow gold with the reference 16528 for the first time the 14kt gold version was abolished after about 25 years of production), and for the first time in the history of the Daytona the steel and gold version identified with the reference 16523. This "New" Daytona would within a very short time become a status symbol and a highly sought-after watch on the international market.

This ref. over the years has had several changes of small details in both dials and bezels. Experts have managed to categorize 8 types of dials and 7 different types of bezels, based on the years of production naming them MK.

It is the chronograph movement 4030 derived from Zenith's caliber 400 El Primero, on which Rolex has made about 200 elaborations and modifications, until it made an already excellent mechanism even more reliable.

The second change concerns the guaranteed water resistance of the case to as much as 10 atmospheres of pressure.

In particular, this model produced in 1983 with serial number R8XXXXX is probably one of the first Daytona with Zenith movement produced.

Mounts a dial with porcelain white background. 18kt yellow gold bezel with engraved tachymeter scale in black enamel. Watch with 18kt gold case 40mm diameter with 18kt gold strap, automatic movement cal.4030.

The watch comes with the original box and warranty of the time and in mint condition.
