ROLEX 6239 THE "PRIEST"

rolex_6239_priest-1

The evolution of the reference 6238 takes the name of COSMOGRAPH to evoke the space exploits of the 1960s, and represents the new generation of pump-button chronographs, similar to previous models, but with the difference that for the first time a graduated bezel is used to measure speed.
The first series of COSMOGRAPH was born with the reference 6239, and with serial numbers around 900,000 (1963); for the second, however, these start at around 1 million (circa 1964).

The latter has, in most productions, a second-series bezel that has, like its predecessor, a scale at 300 units per hour, but with measuring intervals of one unit up to 100 and intermediate at 225 and 250.

The dial retains the inscriptions ROLEX COSMOGRAPH at the top, below the Rolex crown; at the bottom the dial has the new inscription SWISS T, which will remain in use on all subsequent dial productions for DAYTONA until more than the mid-1990s. A custom Valjoux caliber 722 is used for the mechanical movement.

This now historic watch for its first-born feature, already of extreme rarity, is presented to you with an unprecedented dial with white graphics: THE PRIEST.
This is precisely the name given in Pucci Papaleo's book, because of the written COSMOGRAPH white, and at the moment only two examples are known.

Ours is the very one in the book, has an author's certification, and is in virtually exceptional condition.

We attach a graph of the now established trend of a standard model 6239, where you can see the great revaluation over the years, and we will try to continue to bring you new news, to give everyone a chance to find their desired interest.

Sales price expressed in euros in 1967 , refers to modern-day purchasing power.
