Omega sold 11 MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold suitcases at a Sotheby's online auction for a total of CHF534,670, an amount that will be entirely donated to Orbis International, the brand's long-standing partner.Held Feb. 12-24, the auction was a first: these special suitcases, available for purchase for the very first time, contained 11 OMEGA x Swatch "Mission to Moonshine Gold" watches that were auctioned off for the first time in a single set.
OMEGA sold 11 MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold suitcases at Sotheby's online auction for a total of CHF534,670, an amount that will be entirely donated to Orbis International, the brand's longtime partner. Held Feb. 12-24, the auction was a first: these special cases available for purchase for the very first time, in fact contained 11 OMEGA x Swatch "Mission to Moonshine Gold" watches that were auctioned for the first time in a single set. Proceeds from the initiative will be donated to Orbis, an organization dedicated to fighting preventable blindness and low vision worldwide. In addition to the many programs and operations performed aboard the Flying Eye Hospital, Orbis is committed to training hundreds of thousands of ophthalmic health workers in the neediest regions around the world. Orbis' work is especially valuable for children, enabling many of them to be given the gift of sight and finally be able to see their parents, the moon and the starry sky for the first time. OMEGA has partnered with Orbis since 2011, and the success of this auction will help the organization continue its mission to make eye care affordable for everyone.

The "Mission to Moonshine Gold" models revisit timepieces from the Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection with a shiny touch. Each watch features a seconds hand coated in 18K MoonshineTM gold, a distinctive alloy patented by OMEGA that gives yellow gold a softer hue and high resistance to fading. In addition, each watch's Moonshine gold hand boasts a special distinctive detail, such as the strawberry-themed motif of July's Strawberry Moon model or the floral motif of May's Flower Moon model. Before the auction ended, the cases were on public display at 11 OMEGA Boutiques around the world-Zurich, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, London, Milan, Paris, and Sydney.
