In an exclusive collaboration with Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures, Hamilton designed a custom "Desert Watch" expressly requested by director Denis Villeneuve for the highly anticipated film "Dune: Part Two," the sequel to his cinematic masterpiece "Dune."
Hamilton, a historical presence in Hollywood with watches appearing in more than 500 major films since 1932, inaugurates a new cinematic collaboration along with the makers of " Dune - Part Two."
Unlike previous collaborations, in which Hamilton selected existing watches, explored in the archives or created entirely new models, the world of "Dune" required a different approach. At Villeneuve's wish, Hamilton worked alongside props manager Doug Harlocker to create a watch for a world that defies the rules of traditional watches.
With no prior information about the device's function, but guided by the story of Frank Herbert's "Dune" and Villeneuve's vision of the film, Hamilton's designers created a durable, Fremen-style tool that perfectly embodied Harlocker's mastery, gaining Villeneuve's blessing on the final model.
Although the "Desert Watch" is exclusive to Arrakis, its creative influence prompted Hamilton to launch two limited edition watches in February 2024 to coincide with the release of " Dune - Part Two."
Both Venturas feature a bright blue dial reminiscent of the Fremen's unmistakable blue eyes. The Ventura Bright includes a button that mimics the bright blue lines of the "Desert Watch" dial design. The all-new Ventura Edge boasts a matte black PVD-coated angular case with a blue digital display that mimics the raised elements seen on the prop in the film.
The limited-edition pieces come with a commemorative package inspired by the film that will appeal to fans and collectors alike.
DUNES: PART TWO
The film explores the mythical journey of Paul Atreides, who joins with Chani and the Fremen to fulfill a mission of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Faced with a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he seeks to prevent the coming of a terrible future that only he can foresee.
Denis Villeneuve returns to direct a screenplay written with Jon Spaihts and based on the novel by Frank Herbert. On production are Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. Executive producers are Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert, while Kevin J. Anderson is the creative consultant.
