The new Daytona is produced in both steel and 18kt yellow gold with the reference 16528 for the first time (the 14kt gold version was abolished after about 25 years of production), and for the first time in the history of the Daytona the steel and gold version identified with the reference 16523. This "New" Daytona would within a very short time become a status symbol and a highly sought-after watch on the international market.
This ref. over the years has had several changes of small details in both dials and bezels. Experts have managed to categorize 8 types of dials and 7 different types of bezels, based on the years of production naming them MK.
