Patek Philippe and their Grand Complications series represent a pillar in the luxury watchmaking market. They are considered a pioneer in the designing of highly complicated mechanical watches.
Most people assume that Patek Philippe made its first Grand Complications in 1910 and that the second ever made was reserved before World War I for James W. Packard in 1916.
A typical Patek Philippe watch in the category of Grand Complication has features like day, date, month, leap year and 24-hour indication by hand. For Patek Philippe to create such an extensive collection – in regular production – of these most complex of timepieces is testament to the Manufacturer’s unparalleled watchmaking expertise.
Let’s talk about the Patek Philippe reference 5270, a model that was first launched in 2011. Basing their vast experience of several generations of Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronographs.
An Spectacular Dial
Embossing a lacquered green that provides the watch true depth and has a more obvious gradient finish that is black at the outer edge, black-gradient rim, gold applied hour markers. Note that this watch dial does not include a tachymeter scale for the chronograph.
The dial has the day and month in the upper half, and in the lower half the circular date, moon phase, leap year indicator and day/night indicator. The 30-minute chronograph counter on the right side is instantaneous and there is a running seconds subdial on the left.
Platinum Case
This elegant balance lies at the center of Patek Philippe’s philosophy on Grand Complications. Interchangeable full back and sapphire-crystal case back.
High quality movement
Patek Philippe chose for this platinum 5270 the manual wound mechanical movement Patek Philippe chronograph caliber with perpetual calendar CH 29-535 PS Q. Caliber CH 29-535 PS Q is distinguished by its traditional architecture, combined with six patented innovations relating to the chronograph, as well as by its exceptionally thin calendar mechanism. It provides an accurate day, month, leap year and day/night display in apertures. Date by hand. Moon phases. Seconds subdial.
There are 5270 styling cues present in the movement, between the lower lugs is the signature diamond that signifies that the watch is made of platinum. This phenomenal caliber is composed of 456 parts and 33 jewels, to provide a power reserve of 65 hours when fully wound while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph.
Black Strap
The Patek Philippe 5270P Chronograph Perpetual Calendar is paired with a shiny black alligator leather strap with square scales, hand-stitched with green contrasting thread, and secured by a platinum fold-over clasp.
